Finance Minister meets with ADB Vice President

September 29, Fineko/abc.az. Finance Minister Sahil Babayev met with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headed by Vice President Bhargav Daskupta, who is on a visit to our country.

ABC.AZ informs that when delivering speech at the Ministry of Finance, Babayev highly appreciated the long-term cooperation with the ADB and noted that joint initiatives implemented through loans, grants and technical assistance make significant contribution to development agenda of our country.

Babayev also expressed confidence in bank's continued close cooperation in country's Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan for 2025-2029. Informing about the current economic situation, the minister highlighted the achievements in development of the non-oil sector.

Priorities were outlined in the direction of improving water supply and sewerage systems in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, financing the infrastructure needs of Baku Metro CJSC, and modernizing railway lines.

In his turn, Daskupta expressed confidence that cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ADB will be strengthened in all areas, including in support of the private sector, and will continue in the coming period based on the principles of long-term partnership.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ADB, development of the private sector, possible support for the bank in this area, opportunities for further partnership and issues of mutual interest.
