February 24, Fineko/abc.az. A criminal case has been sent to the court against an official accused of not returning funds received from the export of agricultural products to the country, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Based on information received from the State Customs Committee that some business entities exporting various types of products to foreign countries do not return funds to Azerbaijan in the appropriate currency, criminal cases have been initiated in the prosecutor's office, and a preliminary investigation is underway.
A criminal case has been initiated in the prosecutor's office of Sumgayit city on the fact of non-return of funds received by Qala Meyvə-Tərəvəz LLC from the export of agricultural goods to foreign countries, through consignment, to the account of an authorized bank in Azerbaijan for a total amount of more than $51 million (more than 86 million manats at the exchange rate of the corresponding period). Ilham Abbasov was charged under Articles 208.2.1, 213.3 and 308.2.
Based on the petition of the investigator and the representation of the prosecutor, who carried out the procedural management of the preliminary investigation, the court decided to take a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed and sent to the appropriate court for consideration.
