August 27, Fineko/abc.az. Zinc extended its winning streak for a seventh straight session, trading near its highest level in over four years due to mounting global supply deficit concerns. On the London Metal Exchange (LME), spot prices traded at a premium of nearly $200 per ton over three-month futures.
Shortages of raw ore pushed smelting treatment charges down to minus $110 per ton, elevating risks of production cuts. In Singapore trading, zinc rose 0.6% to $3,916 per ton. Copper reflected a similar trend, with futures ticking up 0.2% to $14,277 per ton following a record high earlier in the week.
