February 5, Fineko/abc.az. The merger of Japanese automakers Nissan and Honda may fail because the parties cannot agree on the terms of the deal, ABC.AZ reports, referring Bloomberg’s sources.

The automakers disagree about the proposal to make Nissan a subsidiary of Honda. Previously, the Japanese giants were supposed to get equal rights in the new company, but Honda has introduced a new proposal.

Nissan is not satisfied with this condition and the company may withdraw from the deal, the interlocutors said. The Nissan Board of Directors will meet on this issue on Wednesday, February 5.

Plans to merge Nissan and Honda became known in December last year. According to the first terms of the deal, they wanted to complete the merger in June and place shares in a joint holding company in August 2026.
