August 28, 2026, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices eased on Friday as investors braced for remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium.
Spot gold fell 0.5% to $4,580.19 per ounce, retreating from a three-month high hit earlier in the week.
Persistent U.S. inflation concerns—with the PCE price index standing at 3.7%—have fueled expectations of prolonged hawkish monetary policy, dampening non-yielding bullion's appeal. However, analyst consensus suggests strong central bank buying and ETF participation will maintain medium-term support toward the $5,000 threshold.
In other metals, silver slid 0.6% to $68.85, palladium dipped 0.2% to $1,349.44, and platinum lost 0.3% to trade at $1,840.78 per ounce.
