February 3, Fineko/abc.az. China intends to start negotiations with the United States on trade policy based on agreements concluded with the first administration of U.S. President Donald Trump in 2020.
ABC.AZ reports, refering to The Wall Street Journal’s sources, that in order to prevent a trade war, China wants to return to the "first stage" agreements that were concluded with Trump during his first term and included commitments to increase imports from the U.S. by $200 bn. Beijing will try to negotiate within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as increase investments in the American economy, in particular in the production of batteries for electric vehicles, in addition, it will abandon the artificial depreciation of the yuan, according to the interlocutors of the WSJ.
Earlier, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce reported that China would file a lawsuit with the WTO in connection with the imposition of duties on Chinese products by the U.S. The Ministry also expressed the hope that the U.S. "will objectively and rationally consider and solve its internal problems instead of threatening other countries with tariffs".
