August 11, Fineko/abc.az. Gold prices rose for a third consecutive session on Tuesday to reach their highest level in over two months, buoyed by rate expectations ahead of upcoming US inflation data.
Spot gold gained 1% to $4,432.74 per ounce, while US gold futures jumped 1,7% to $4,492.60.
Lower interest rate expectations continue to support the non-yielding asset. Analysts at IG noted that safe-haven demand and renewed geopolitical tension between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz peace negotiations contributed to the rally, projecting a potential medium-term move toward $5,000 per ounce.
Among other precious metals, silver rose 0.9%, platinum gained 0.7%, and palladium advanced 0.8%.
