Turkey and Azerbaijan sign agreement on supply of 33 bcm of gas

January 5, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on the supply of 33 bcm of gas.

ABC.AZ reports that Turkish Minister of Energy & Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made this statement on Channel 7.

According to the minister, gas production at Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea will double in 2026, which will provide domestic gas for 8 million consumers in Turkey. In addition, a new gas agreement has been reached with Azerbaijan.

The Turkish energy minister explained that the agreement between Ankara and Baku was reached a few days ago, according to which the supply of natural gas will begin in 2029.

"2.25 bcm of gas a year will be supplied from Absheron field in the Caspian Sea. The supplies will be carried out via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline," the minister explained.
