BP sells 65% of Castrol to U.S.’ Stonepeak for $10 bn

10:35 - 25.12.2025

December 25, Fineko/abc.az. BP has agreed to sell 65% of Castrol's lubricants division to American investment company Stonepeak.

ABC.AZ informs that the deal, scheduled to be completed at the end of 2026, will amount to approx. $10.1 bn. BP will retain 35% of the shares, but does not exclude their subsequent sale.

The company will use the proceeds to reduce debt exceeding $26 bn. The sale of one of the most profitable assets became a necessary measure against the background of financial difficulties, falling investor confidence and the risk of takeover by competitors.
