September 1, Fineko/abc.az – German Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Bärbel Bas, aims to tighten measures for recipients of citizen’s benefits (Bürgergeld), including Ukrainian refugees, if they refuse to engage in work.

ABC.AZ reports that the corresponding directive will be presented on September 10.

The ministry explains that the benefit, which can reach up to €563, will be reduced by 30% for individuals who miss consultations at the employment office without a valid reason. If a capable person repeatedly refuses job offers, their Bürgergeld payment will be completely stopped.

“We help people find work, but it is important that they participate in the process. Otherwise, it would be unfair to those who work every day,” the minister told Bild.
