August 1, Fineko/abc.az. As of July 1, 2025, Azerbaijan's public debt (internal and external) amounted to 25.695 bn manats (19.6% of projected GDP).
ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Ministry of Finance, that out of the total public debt, 8.518 bn manats ($5.01 bn), or 33.2%, accounted for external public debt, and 17.17 bn manats, or 66.8%, for domestic public debt.
As of July 1, 2025, Azerbaijan's external public debt totaled $5.1 bn, including 85.1% in US dollars or 6.5% of the projected GDP for 2025 in the amount of 130.662 bn manats ($76.86 bn). The external public debt in absolute terms decreased by $119 million, or 2.4%, compared to the beginning of 2025, taking into account changes in exchange rates.
In the first half of 2025, implementation of overdue payments on the principal debt in the amount of $237.1 million in exchange for funds used within loan agreements led to a reduction in external government debt.
By July 1, 2025, the ratio of external government debt to GDP declined by 0.4 percentage points compared with the beginning of 2025.
The liabilities with variable interest rate made up 49.3% of the external government debt, while fixed-rate liabilities - 50.7%.
As of July 1, 2025, 34.9% of the external government debt portfolio belongs to the Asian Development Bank, 27.7% to Eurobonds, 14.7% to the World Bank and 22.7% to liabilities raised from other creditors.
