February 27, Fineko/abc.az. A new draft law on the securities market is being prepared in Azerbaijan, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Murad Yahyaev, executive director of the Association of Stock Market Participants of Azerbaijan (AFBIA), as saying this at a meeting with journalists.

He noted that the law on the securities market was adopted in 2015.

"So far, there have been certain changes and additions. Despite this, a diagnosis is currently being carried out to what extent it meets the requirements of the market and modernity. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan is currently doing this. AFBIA is also conducting discussions about the difficulties faced by the market from a purely practical point of view," Yahyaev said.

The head of AFBIA said that updating the law takes time.

"The process takes a long time. We hope that the process will be completed in a maximum of 1-1.5 years. Legislation will be developed that will promote the development of the market, as well as the protection of investors' rights and increase business interest in this area in other areas," Yahyaev added.
