September 22, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st half of 2026, the total turnover of the REPO market in Azerbaijan amounted to 21.57 billion manats (a drop of 30.9% versus Jan-Jun 2025).
According to the BSE bulletin "Q2 2026: Overview of the Azerbaijani and global economy and capital markets", the decline is linked mainly with reduction in REPO operations with the use of corporate securities as collateral - from 11.85 billion up to 960 million manats.
At the same time, the turnover of REPO operations for government bonds increased from 19.25 billion to 19.97 billion manats and accounted for about 93% of the total turnover of the REPO market. The REPO turnover on the Central Bank's notes amounted to 620 million manats, and on mortgage bonds - 20 million manats.
In the 2nd quarter, the REPO turnover totaled 10.81 billion manats, slightly exceeding the figure of the 1st quarter of 10.75 billion manats. However, the turnover decreased by 25.5% year-on-year. The monthly turnover increased from 2.78 billion manats in March up to 4.07 billion manats in June.
The share of repos with duration of 4-7 days has increased in the structure of transactions by time. The turnover in this segment reached 17.58 billion manats, the number of transactions was 2,580, and its share in the total REPO turnover increased from 54.2% to 81.5%.
At that, the share of 1-3-day REPO transactions decreased from 31.6% to 6%. Operations lasting 8-15 days accounted for 10.4% of the total turnover, while activity on operations lasting more than 15 days remained low.
