January 27, Fineko/abc.az. Fake gold can entice buyers to choose jewelry made of platinum and silver, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Cbonds commodity market analyst Viktor Poplavsky.
He made this statement amidnews about the widespread distribution of fake gold in Turkey, which even jewelers can hardly distinguish from the real one.
The expert believes that if fakes spread beyond Turkey, it will pose a threat to jewelry markets where gold jewelry is popular.
"Consumers may start looking for safer alternatives such as silver or platinum, which will change the dynamics of demand for precious metals."
