August 27, Fineko/abc.az. Under reforms to refine tax regulations for the digital economy, the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan has electronically registered three more global tech firms — Zoom Communications, OpenAI, and Zoho Corporation. The VAT registration takes effect on September 1.

Following amendments to the Tax Code, non-resident digital service providers with an annual domestic turnover exceeding $10,000 must electronically register for tax purposes starting next month. For registered providers, local banks will no longer withhold VAT on payments; instead, the companies will calculate, declare, and remit VAT directly to the state budget.
