World’s fastest Internet has appeared in Japan

July 2, Fineko/abc.az. The Japanese National Institute of Information Technology has set a unique record by reaching a data transfer rate of 402 Tbit/s over commercial fiber optic cables. To do this, the scientists transmitted signals over 1,505 channels for 50 km.

Of the equipment, 6 types of amplifiers and an optical equalizer were needed, which used bandwidth of 37 THz.

As a result, the maximum result exceeded the previous ones by 25% and increased throughput by 35%. But the most interesting thing is that this can be achieved with the help of currently available technologies, which are already available from Internet service providers.

The untapped potential is truly huge, let alone the possibility of increasing the service life of optical fiber using optical cables and new generation systems.

This solution is especially relevant at the moment, when not all providers were able to switch to fiber instead of copper cables. The subsequent improvement is simply beyond their power. And what can we talk about when the maximum available speed in Russia often does not exceed 1 Gbit/s.
