September 1, Fineko/abc.az. Apple Inc. has presented new evidence in its trade secret lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that a former engineer accessed confidential power converter circuit schematics after joining the ChatGPT creator.

According to filings in U.S. federal court, the allegations center on Chang Liu, a former Apple engineer who transitioned to OpenAI in January 2026. Forensic evaluation revealed that Liu accessed Apple’s proprietary circuit files while at OpenAI to run engineering software simulations and train artificial intelligence models.

Fearing ongoing exposure of its trade secrets, Apple has requested expedited court discovery. In response, OpenAI has moved to dismiss the lawsuit, maintaining that its AI systems and technologies are developed entirely independently from the ground up.
