OpenAI Cuts Ties with Cursor Following SpaceX Acquisition

14:00 - 30.08.2026

August 30, Fineko/abc.az. OpenAI announced it plans to stop supplying its AI models to Cursor, the AI coding tool recently acquired by Elon Musk's SpaceX, setting a proposed shutoff date of November 12, 2026.

OpenAI cited trust issues, stating it cannot be confident that SpaceX will use its technology within its terms of service, pointing to alleged contractual violations by Musk's companies in the past. Musk dismissed the move, replying he "couldn't care less". Meanwhile, competitor Anthropic stepped in, announcing it will increase compute support for its Claude models on the Cursor platform.
