CBA: Consumer lending growth carries no risks

October 29, Fineko/abc.az. In Azerbaijan, the current growth rates of consumer and business lending do not create systemic risks, CBA governor Taleh Kazimov stated at a press conference.

He added that it is desirable for the banking sector to play a more active role in economic development, especially in financing small, medium and micro enterprises.

"Given the current growth rates of both business lending and consumer lending, we do not believe that there are any risks in the economy. The slight increase in the loan portfolio is conditioned by the lending of individual borrowers and is not systemic in nature. We would like to see more active lending and consider it advisable to improve regulatory mechanisms in this direction," he noted.
