October 29, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has improved its monetary policy instruments, which has made it possible to revitalize the interbank money market and reduce the regulator's direct involvement in its work.
ABC.AZ reports that CBA governor Taleh Kazimov said this at a press conference.
According to Kazimov, the main guideline for the Central Bank is the AZIR rate (Azerbaijan Interbank Rate). The regulator strives to bring the discount rate as close to it as possible.
"Last year, we continued to improve our monetary policy and lowered the interest rate. At that, we took into account the liquidity situation and sought to activate the interbank market, as well as reduce the participation of the Central Bank in its work. We have managed to achieve our goals: activity in the interbank market has increased.
We currently have no plans to take additional measures. Using the available tools, we maintain liquidity at the desired level and strive to ensure that interest rates are formed near the target values," Kazimov emphasized.
