September 22, Fineko/abc.az. Gold struggled for momentum on Tuesday as expectations of prolonged high interest rates dampened investor appetite.

Spot gold traded at $4,344.29  per ounce, while U.S. gold futures remained flat at $4,381.80.

Investors are awaiting remarks from Federal Reserve officials for policy cues following last week's 25-basis-point rate hike. St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem noted that further rate increases may be necessary to curb inflation. Meanwhile, spot silver rose to $66.19 per ounce, platinum gained to $1,792.76, and palladium advanced to $1,305.10.
