September 15, Fineko/abc.az. Speaking at a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided key updates on the implementation of the Zangezur Corridor.
The minister stated that design phase works are set to wrap up by the end of this year, with physical construction scheduled to start in 2027. On mainland Azerbaijan, highway construction toward the Armenian border is 95% complete, while the railway segment has reached 75%, with both infrastructure projects slated for completion in 2027.
Simultaneously, railway reconstruction works have commenced in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The minister highlighted that the 42-kilometer section of the Turkiye–Nakhchivan rail line—a crucial segment of the Zangezur Corridor—traverses Armenian territory, with negotiations currently underway between the US and Armenia. Although this transit section belongs to Armenia, entry and exit traffic will be directly operated from Azerbaijan.
