September 10, Fineko/abc.az. As of August 1, 2026, the number of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 0.7% versus Jan-Jul 2026 up to 1.78 million people, the State Statistics Committee informs.

According to the Committee, 836,900 people were employed in the public sector (a drop of 2.5%), and 944,200 people in the non-governmental sector (a rise of 3.7%). The distribution of employees by type of economic activity is as follows:

Trade and repair of vehicles: 18.9%

Education: 17.5%

Industry: 13.9%

Health and social services: 8,6%

Construction: 6,8%

Public administration, defense and social security: 6.1%

Transportation and warehousing: 4.4%

Professional, scientific and technical activity: 3.9%

Financial and insurance activities: 2.5%

Agriculture, forestry and fisheries: 2.3%

Other spheres: 15.1%
