European Gas Prices Hit 2022 Highs as Middle East Conflict Disrupts LNG Supply

12:11 - 26.10.2026

October 26, Fineko/abc.az. European natural gas benchmark prices opened the week on a bullish trend, driven by escalating military conflict in the Middle East and worsening global LNG supply constraints.

At the Dutch TTF hub, November contracts rose 1.9% to €95.65 per MWh, holding at their highest levels since December 2022. Shipments from the Persian Gulf—which previously accounted for nearly a fifth of global LNG—have dropped by nearly 80% year-on-year.

Concurrently, EU gas storage levels stand at just 74.6% capacity, well below historical averages, leaving the region acutely vulnerable to price shocks as winter heating demand picks up.
