October 28, Fineko/abc.az. German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz is preparing a comprehensive strategic update for 2030 and beyond, aiming to reduce its reliance on profit pools in China following a sharp market downturn.

CEO Ola Källenius emphasized that China remains an indispensable market, but Finance Chief Harald Wilhelm noted that the company is shifting to full local sourcing in China to lower costs and boost competitiveness. Concurrently, Mercedes plans to ramp up investments in the US to expand annual sales from 300,000 toward 400,000 units. Meanwhile, rival Audi announced a $4 billion investment in a new US assembly plant, reflecting a broader shift by German automakers toward the American market.
