September 9, Fineko/abc.az. Sacha Akira Backes has been appointed as the unified representative of the World Bank Group (WBG) in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijan-based WB representatove office informs that Backes assumed his duties on September 1, and will also lead the activities of the entire World Bank Group in Azerbaijan, including the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Prior to that, Backes worked as a senior investment specialist in IFC's European Manufacturing, agribusiness and Services team. He has worked at IFC for over 17 years. Previously, Stephanie Stallmeister held the position of the WB Country Manager for Azerbaijan.
