Elon Musk Warns China Could Win AI Race as Power Grid Bottlenecks Constrain the US

September 8, Fineko/abc.az. Tech billionaire Elon Musk warned that the primary bottleneck in the global artificial intelligence race is shifting from semiconductors to raw electrical power.

Musk highlighted that China’s electricity generation capacity is approaching nearly three times that of the United States, providing Beijing with a fundamental structural advantage in scaling massive AI computing power.

While grid interconnection delays in the US can stretch up to several years, China is rapidly expanding its mega-energy infrastructure. Industry analysts note that while Washington relies on semiconductor export restrictions, China's expanding power generation capacity could secure its long-term AI dominance once domestic chip self-sufficiency is fully achieved.
