July 30, Fineko/abc.az. According to data from Turkey’s Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), net profit across the banking sector rose 24.8% year-on-year in the first half of the year to reach TRY 527.4 billion ($11.1 billion).
The sector's net profit growth outpaced the cumulative 6-month inflation rate of 17.76%.
Key Highlights:
Loans & Non-Performing Loans (NPL): Total loans increased from TRY 26 trillion in May to TRY 26.8 trillion ($565.2 billion) in June. The NPL ratio edged up to 2.77% in June from 2.69% in May.
Capital Adequacy: The capital adequacy ratio strengthened to 17% in June (up from 16% in May), while the core capital adequacy ratio remained steady at 12%.
