July 30, Fineko/abc.az. As of the end of June 2026, the total liabilities of the 35 credit unions operating in Azerbaijan decreased from 2.6 million to 2.5 million manats against Jan-Jun 2025.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, that the volume of loans received fell from 2.3 million to 2.1 million manats.
Overall capital of credit unions lowered from 10.1 million to 9.4 million manats. The main cause was a reduction in the authorized capital from 7.2 million to 6.7 million manats. In addition, the amount of retained earnings decreased from 2.9 million to 2.7 million manats.
Unlike banks and non-banking credit organizations, which were able to increase their net profits in the 1st half of the year, credit unions were unable to improve their financial results.
According to CBA's Financial Stability Report, despite growth in the share of NBCOs in the financial sector's assets, their role in financial mediation remains insignificant. In the 1st half of the year, the share of NBCOs in overall assets of the financial system was 6.1%, compared to 5.8% a year earlier.
