Equinor Discovers New Oil Reserves Near Johan Castberg Field

July 23, Fineko/abc.az. Equinor and its partners have identified new oil deposits near the Arctic Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea.

According to estimates by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, recoverable reserves are between 7.6 and 10.5 million barrels of oil equivalent. Project participants are currently considering the possibility of connecting these new reserves to the field's existing infrastructure.

The well marks the 17th exploration well drilled under production licence PL532, operated by Equinor.
