July 18, Fineko/abc.az. According to the weekly money and banking statistics released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), total deposits in the banking sector increased by 0.3% (or 85.8 billion liras / approx. $1.82 billion) week-on-week to reach 31.458 trillion liras (approx. $670 billion) for the week ending July 10.
During the reporting period, Turkish lira-denominated deposits rose by 1.1% to 17.2 trillion liras (approx. $366 billion), while foreign currency (FX) deposits remained flat at 10.1 trillion liras ($255.6 billion).
Driven by institutional growth, the banking sector's total loan volume, including the Central Bank, expanded over the week to hit 26.119 trillion liras (approx. $555.7 billion), while consumer loans of domestic residents edged down slightly to 6.6 trillion liras (approx. $140 billion).
