July 14, Fineko/abc.az. Scientists from Osaka Metropolitan University have developed a "smart" material that enables programmable control over the direction of thermal radiation. The device, based on magneto-optical material and GST (germanium–antimony–tellurium), can switch between operating modes and retain its set state even after the power source is disconnected.
This new technology allows for more precise control over heat flows and could find applications in infrared sensors, energy systems, and next-generation photonic memory.
