April 3, Fineko/abc.az. The World Bank highly appreciates the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan on monitoring state-owned enterprises and is ready to provide technical support in this direction.
ABC.AZ informs with reference to the Ministry of Finance that WB's experience manager in the field of public financial management and procurement, Serdar Yilmaz, said this at a meeting with First Deputy Minister Anar Kerimov. The meeting was attended by WB Country Manager for Azerbaijan Stephanie Stallmeister.
Prospects for expanding cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the WB were discussed, in particular, ongoing and planned activities in the field of public financial management.
Kerimov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the WB, and the activities carried out within this partnership are of particular importance in terms of improving the public financial management system. It was noted that the support provided by the WB in this sphere is highly appreciated and makes an important contribution to the effectiveness of ongoing reforms. The deputy minister added that recent work on monitoring state-owned enterprises and reforms contribute to increasing transparency and accountability in this area, and it is planned to continue activities in this direction in the coming period.
During the meeting, there was also broad exchange of views on possible technical assistance projects that the WB can provide, as well as on the tasks facing the Agency for Monitoring State-Owned Enterprises and the work that will be carried out in this direction. The parties noted the importance of sharing experiences and expanding opportunities for joint activities in this area.
