September 10, Fineko/abc.az. The European Central Bank (ECB) hiked its key interest rates by 25 basis points to counter persistent inflationary pressures stemming from Middle East geopolitical supply shocks.
Warning that inflation will remain well above the 2% target for an extended period, the ECB revised its headline inflation outlook upward to 2.5% for 2027 and 2.1% for 2028, while keeping the 2026 forecast at 3.0%.
ECB President Christine Lagarde noted that the decision was unanimous, confirming that monetary policy will remain data-dependent to anchor medium-term price stability.
