Baku and Ankara interconnect their electric grids

September 11, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan and Turkey intend to extend successful experience of cooperation in the oil & gas sector to the electric power industry, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at a press conference within the V Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum in Baku.

According to Shahbazov, Baku and Ankara plan to expand electric power relations with Eurasian countries: "These include the projects that we are discussing today: creation of electric power links between Nakhchivan and Turkey, along the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey-Bulgaria route, as well as through the Black Sea. All this will allow long-range transmission of both electricity from renewable sources and electricity in general to the regions we are interested in."
