February 6, Fineko/abc.az. The World Gold Council has released data on gold purchases by central banks for 2025.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to the report, that global economic uncertainty and geopolitical risks force countries to continue to consider gold as a “safe haven”.

In December 2025, central banks bought 19 tons of gold through the IMF and other open sources. Thus, the total volume of net purchases for the year reached 328 tons.

Our country is among the leaders in buying gold. Thus, Poland took the 1st place with 102 tons.

It is followed by the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Azerbaijan occupies the 3rd place in the list with 53 tons of gold.

List of countries with the largest amount of gold purchases:

1. Poland – 102 tons

2. Kazakhstan – 57 tons

3. Azerbaijan – 53 tons

4. Brazil – 43 tons

5. Turkey and China – 27 tons
