SOCAR presents expansion project for Kulevi terminal

October 3, Fineko/abc.az. SOCAR submitted the project documentation on expansion of Kulevi Oil Terminal located on the Black Sea coast to the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environment & Agriculture of Georgia, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the local edition of Business Media.

The project stipulates construction of four new cylindrical steel tanks with capacity of 20,000 cu m each, which will increase loading and unloading capacity of the terminal up to 80,000 cu m.

In addition, a two-way railway overpass will be built to efficiently unload petroleum products from tank-type wagons.

SOCAR submitted the project in accordance with the legislation of Georgia, as well as an environmental impact assessment report. The Department of Environmental Supervision will review the document and then issue the appropriate permit to the terminal to begin construction of new facilities.

Kulevi terminal has 6 tank farms, and expansion is part of company's development strategy.

Kulevi Oil Terminal has been operating since 2008. Plans for its expansion were announced in April of this year.
