May 29, Fineko/abc.az. Iran has launched major renewable energy projects, in particular the construction of solar power plants in five provinces, ABC.AZ reports, quoting the deputy head of SAMBA, Parandeh Matlak.

In 2024, 600 MW of solar capacity was commissioned in the country, four times more than the previous average. The Ministry of Energy plans to increase the total volume of solar generation to 5,000 MW, while some of the equipment is purchased abroad and has already been delivered to the facilities.

Private proposals for the construction of 38,000 MW facilities are also being considered. Households are offered the installation of solar panels with the possibility of selling energy to the state for $0.074 per kWh. The new rules exempt companies using renewable energy from load reduction restrictions.
