February 26, Fineko/abc.az. Despite the fact that the producer price index (PPI), which measures the average price changes that manufacturers pay for goods and services in Azerbaijan last month, generally showed a decrease of 1.7% year-on-year, prices in the manufacturing industry increased.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the State Statistics Committee that the PPI for the manufacturing industry in January 2025 was 5.5%. However, in December 2024, this figure was 4.3%.

The last time such a price increase was recorded in the manufacturing industry was in March 2023.

The PPI tracks price changes occurring at different stages of the supply chain and helps determine inflation trends. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan did not mention this indicator in its interest rate press releases, but rising producer prices may affect consumer prices in the future. Moreover, if import inflation also increases, it may lead to further price increases.
