January 30, Fineko/abc.az. Japan’s SoftBank Group is negotiating about investments of $15-25 billion in OpenAI, the developer of chat bot ChatGPT.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the Financial Times, the investment will deepen cooperation between the two companies, which are already planning a large project in the field of AI infrastructure.

Last week, OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle Corp. And UAE state investment company MGX announced the creation of a joint venture called Stargate. Over the next four years, Stargate is expected to invest $500 billion in the construction of data centers in the U.S. for OpenAI.

SoftBank plans to invest directly in OpenAI in addition to its commitments (over $15 billion) within Stargate project, FT sources say.

"Negotiations are underway, and the amount that SoftBank can invest in OpenAI’s capital has not been definitively determined," one of the sources says.
