September 24, Fineko/abc.az. Speaking at the conference "A new era in seed production: Local seeds, reliable supply" in Baku, Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov noted that as a result of the State Program, it is planned to increase country's supply of wheat seeds up to 100 percent by 2030.

The minister noted that digitization of the approbation process and mapping of acreage have fully ensured the tracking of certified seeds.

The production of wheat and barley seeds, which reached 81,000 tons last year, is expected to approach 100,000 tons this year.

Along with this, the main objectives are to increase the seed supply of potatoes, vegetables and industrial crops, and expand the production of certified seedlings, which currently reaches 7 million units.

Mammadov stressed that the next step is to restrict the import of products of unknown origin into the country and strengthen local production by bringing quality control of imported seeds in line with international standards.
