August 27, Fineko/abc.az. American big tech giant Google, owned by Alphabet, was denied permission to construct a data center in Dublin, Ireland.

According to ABC.AZ, Irish authorities determined that the proposed project did not meet certain sustainable development requirements of the country.

Google had planned to build a 72,400 square meter data storage facility in the Irish capital. However, the South Dublin County Council emphasized in a statement that Google failed to provide sufficient details on how the center would impact energy supply after its planned commissioning in 2027.

Dublin is home to Google's European headquarters and two operational data processing centers. The company had previously announced a goal to power its own data centers with carbon-free energy by 2030.
