February 27, Fineko/abc.az. National transit practices, interaction of single window systems, e-customs declaration, issues of creating a "regional simplified transit system" will be discussed at this March’s Baku meeting of representatives of the member countries of the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.
"In order to simplify transit through the introduction of digital solutions in cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor, it is planned to create a single transit portal between the countries of the corridor. This portal will facilitate cargo transportation along the corridor in accordance with international standards, simplify transit procedures and organize electronic information exchange. With this purpose, discussions on the draft simplified transit customs procedure using the “single window” principle along the Middle Corridor are to be held in Baku this March," the Committee says.
The SCC noted that due to the simplification of intermodal transportation during container transportation from China along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to Europe, a new railway waybill is not required in Azerbaijan, and customs control is carried out in a simplified manner at the Baku International Sea Trade Port on the basis of a railway waybill drawn up in Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
