October 19, Fineko/abc.az. According to the State Customs Committee, imports of both hybrid cars and electric-powered vehicles observed a sharp decline in Azerbaijan for Jan-Sept 2026.

Imports of hybrid vehicles that do not require charging from an external power source fell 2.4-fold against the 2025 same term, from 12,555 to 5,174 cars. Their statistical value decreased by 57%, to $113.3 million.

A similar trend was observed in the plug-in hybrid segment: the number of imported cars in this category declined by 63.5% to 11,621 cars, and their cost reached $258.8 million.

Imports of electric vehicles powered exclusively by electric traction also dropped. The number of cars imported into the country fell by 56.4%, to 680 cars, and their total statistical value by 63.6%, to $17.5 million.

In general, the data indicates a sharp decrease in imports of eco-friendly cars and hybrid vehicles in the Azerbaijani market.
