October 6, Fineko/abc.az. Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Hasanov, in his panel presentation on the theme "Transport & Logistics – the Middle Corridor: the Strategic Role & Partnership of Azerbaijan", noted that over the past 4 years, the number of transit flights from the country's airspace has increased and Azerbaijan's role in air transport has strengthened.

The deputy minister stressed the possibility of expanding direct air links between Baku and Germany (including AZAL flights to Berlin), and also noted that a new cargo airport with capacity of 1 million tons a year has been built in the Alat Free Economic Zone next to the Baku port.

It was noted that this new infrastructure will combine sea, rail, road and air transportation into a single logistics system.
