September 11, Fineko/abc.az. According to a Reuters poll of 16 economists, Japan’s nationwide core consumer price index (CPI), excluding fresh food, is expected to hold steady at 1.8% year-on-year in August.
While rising crude oil and naphtha prices driven by Middle East conflicts exerted upward pressure on daily consumer goods, government electricity and gas subsidies helped balance the overall index.
Escalating fuel costs, with oil benchmarks surging past $100 per barrel, combined with a weak yen, continue to maintain broader price pressures on the economy.
