September 11, Fineko/abc.az. Global electric vehicle (EV) sales rose 2% year-on-year in August to 1.83 million units, marking the sixth consecutive month of growth. Total sales for the first eight months of the year reached 13.4 million units.

According to UK-based research firm Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, strong demand in Europe offset declines in China and North America. European EV sales jumped 36% to 380,000 units, supported by government subsidies. Conversely, North American sales fell 33% to 140,000 units due to the phase-out of US federal tax incentives, while sales in China dropped 11% to 1.03 million units due to high base effects. In the rest of the world, sales surged 97% to 290,000 units.
