July 25, Fineko/abc.az. Iran has proposed a new commercial framework to Armenia aimed at expanding natural gas exports and overhauling bilateral energy cooperation. Following high-level talks in Tehran between Iranian Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad and Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan, the two sides agreed to establish a joint specialized working group.
The initiative goes beyond increasing supply volumes to the Armenian domestic market, outlining plans for a comprehensive audit of existing pipeline infrastructure to explore utilizing Armenia as a regional transit corridor for Iranian gas. Currently, energy trade between the two neighbors functions under a long-standing "gas-for-electricity" swap arrangement.
