July 25, Fineko/abc.az. A class-action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade seeking to overturn new 10% to 12.5% import tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on 60 trading partners.

The plaintiffs argue that using Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 to cover approximately 99.4% of U.S. imports exceeds the statutory authority delegated by Congress to the executive branch and constitutes an arbitrary policy enforcement.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) enacted the tariffs following investigations into alleged failures by foreign economies to prohibit and enforce bans on forced-labor goods. The legal challenge comes shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down earlier emergency reciprocal tariffs, prompting the administration to pivot to Section 301 mechanisms.
