Azerbaijan changes energy efficiency management procedure

The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has made changes to the requirements for the energy management system, as well as to the procedure and criteria for assessing the potential for increasing efficiency in the production of electricity and heat energy and the processing of natural gas.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant decision was signed by Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

According to the document, a number of economic entities, along with the Ministry of Energy, will submit certification information to the Energy Efficiency Information System (EEIS). In addition, at the request of the authorized body, annual reports on the introduction of the energy management system and the results achieved must be submitted by the end of January of the year following the reporting year, also through EEIS.

The changes provide that assessment of the potential for improving energy efficiency will be carried out through EEIS. Business entities will be able to submit the relevant reports in written or electronic form through the system, and the assessment results will be posted in their e-cabinets within five business days.
